Community & Profile Rules

These rules govern how you present yourself and participate publicly on metyping.com. They apply to your username, avatar, biography, country/flag selection, public comments, and any other visible part of your profile or activity. By creating an account you agree to follow these rules.

These rules are incorporated into our Terms of Service and supplement our Acceptable Use Policy.

1. Be Respectful

Your profile and any public interactions must not contain:

• Abusive, hateful, threatening, or intimidating language
• Discriminatory content targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
• Sexually explicit, graphic, or obscene content
• Content designed to harass, shame, or demean specific individuals

2. No Impersonation

You may not use a username, avatar, or profile that:

• Impersonates a real person, whether public figure, celebrity, or private individual
• Falsely represents affiliation with an organization, brand, educational institution, or government entity
• Is misleadingly similar to a metyping.com staff or official account
• Uses another person's real name in a deceptive way

Usernames that are clearly parody or fan accounts are generally permitted, provided they are clearly labeled as such and do not cross into harassment.

3. Honest Country and Flag Representation

The country flag and location fields on your profile are used in competitive rankings and leaderboards. You may not:

• Select a country or flag you have no genuine connection to for the purpose of manipulating national or regional rankings
• Use flag or country fields to harass, mock, or demean individuals or nations
• Make fraudulent claims about your nationality or location to gain a competitive advantage

4. Respect Intellectual Property

• Do not use copyrighted images, logos, trademarks, or other protected content in your avatar or profile without authorization.
• Do not reproduce substantial portions of copyrighted text in your bio or public communications.

5. Public Data Visibility

By default, the following information associated with your account is publicly visible:

• Username and avatar
• Country flag and language selection
• WPM scores and accuracy statistics on leaderboards
• Earned achievements and personal bests
• Language statistics and ranking history

This visibility is a fundamental part of the competitive and community features of metyping.com. Some visibility may be adjustable in your account settings, but leaderboard entries and competitive records may remain visible as part of the public record.

6. Username Guidelines

• Usernames must be between 3 and 30 characters.
• Only letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens are permitted.
• Usernames may not consist entirely of numbers or contain excessive repetition.
• Usernames that are slurs, hate speech, explicit terms, or otherwise offensive will be removed.
• On the Free plan, your username is set at signup and cannot be changed. Pro members may update their username from Settings.

7. Enforcement

We review profiles and conduct that is reported to us or flagged by our automated systems. We reserve the right to:

• Remove or replace a non-compliant username, avatar, or bio
• Suppress a profile or scores from public leaderboard visibility
• Restrict account features temporarily or permanently
• Terminate accounts with repeated or severe violations
