Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of metyping.com (the "Service"), operated by Tedious Lab ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction to form a binding contract, or have verifiable parental or guardian consent, to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Description of Service

metyping.com provides typing tests in multiple languages and scripts, personal performance tracking, leaderboards, competitive challenges, and related features. We may add, modify, or remove features at any time without prior notice.

3. Accounts

You may create an account using an email address or a supported OAuth provider (e.g., Google). You must provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it updated. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account and for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials. Notify us immediately at contact@tediouslab.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Public Information

Certain information associated with your account — including your username, avatar, WPM scores, accuracy statistics, rankings, and achievements — may be displayed publicly as part of the core functionality of the Service (e.g., leaderboards and public profiles). By creating an account you acknowledge and accept this visibility. You may review your profile visibility settings in your account settings.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Service, including custom text and profile information. By submitting content, you grant Tedious Lab a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, and adapt your content solely as necessary to operate and improve the Service. We do not claim ownership of your content.

6. Fair Play

The integrity of the platform depends on honest participation. The following are strictly prohibited:

• Using scripts, bots, macros, or any automation to generate or influence test scores.
• Exploiting bugs, vulnerabilities, or unintended behavior to gain an advantage.
• Falsifying, manipulating, or submitting fabricated performance data.
• Operating multiple accounts to inflate rankings or evade restrictions.
• Any coordinated effort to distort leaderboard results.

We reserve the right to invalidate scores, restrict leaderboard visibility, or terminate accounts found in violation of fair play rules.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

8. Community Standards

Your public presence on the platform — including your username, avatar, bio, and any public communications — must comply with our Community and Profile Rules.

9. Intellectual Property

All content, software, design, trademarks, and other materials comprising the Service are the property of Tedious Lab or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any Service content without our express written permission. Our Copyright / DMCA Policy governs how we handle infringement notices.

10. Feedback

If you submit feedback, suggestions, ideas, or feature requests to us, you grant Tedious Lab a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use, adapt, and incorporate that feedback without restriction or compensation to you.

11. Paid Services and Subscriptions

If you purchase a paid plan, your subscription is governed by these Terms and our Subscription, Renewal, and Refund Policy. Paid plans are billed in advance and renew automatically unless cancelled. Beta or early-access features may be subject to additional terms under our Beta Features Terms.

12. Termination and Suspension

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we reasonably believe violates these Terms, applicable law, or is otherwise harmful to other users, us, or third parties. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, and limitations of liability — will survive.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, TEDIOUS LAB AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE FEES YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR USD $100.

15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Jeju-si, Republic of Korea.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by email or in-app notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
